SOC-Dialog Online Event Outcomes

On October 15, for the first time, Softline and Infosecurity (part of Softline Group) organized the SOC-Dialogue, a new virtual event format. During the link-up conference, the representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies and Communications of the Kaliningrad Region and the Department of Information Technologies, Communications and Workflow of the Tambov Region Administration discussed different approaches to monitoring and responding to incidents in the regions.

Governments of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation are solving tasks on identifying and preventing cyber threats differently. Some manage their own complex cybersecurity structure independently, others consistently implement solutions to ensure information security, and yet others rely on personnel and recruit a team of highly qualified cybersecurity specialists. But all  involve the expertise of specialized companies at different stages.

The idea of creating the SOC-Dialogue link-up belongs to the Softline experts, a global provider of IT and cybersecurity solutions and services. Its goal is to exchange experience between representatives of various regions of the Russian Federation on issues of ensuring the security of state information systems. Representatives of regional authorities, state-owned enterprises and corporations interested in building a modern information security system joined the event as guests of the link-up conference.

Vadim Ryskal, Minister of Digital Technologies and Communications of the Kaliningrad Region, and Sergey Chupris, Director of the Kaliningrad State Research Center for Information and Technical Security, shared their experience in building a system for detecting incidents and countering cyber threats. The conversation was supported by Vladimir Andrianov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies and Communications of the Kaliningrad Region. From the Tambov Region, the discussion was attended by Alexander Mokrozub, Deputy Head of the Department of Information Technologies, Communications and Workflow of the Tambov Region Administration and Igor Ulaev, Head of Infrastructure Development and Information Security of the Department of Information Technologies, Communications and Workflow of the Tambov Region Administration. One of the important topics discussed by representatives of regional authorities and Softline experts was the development of Security Operation Centers (SOC), Center for monitoring and incident response. Participants expressed their views on the pros and cons of building their own SOC.

"The Softline team has proven expertise in monitoring and investigating security events. Along with the transformation of our customers, our SOC is changing and developing as well, and today we have come to understand the need to organize an open platform for the exchange of experience in countering cyber incidents between cyber security experts, representatives of the business community and regional authorities. Participation in the event will help those organizations that have not yet begun to create their own Operation Center to choose a solution by evaluating all the pros and cons. At the same time, companies that already use SOC could qualitatively improve the level of service by exchanging experience with their workmates," said Viktor Algazin, Head of Regional Business of Softline Group.
